Sambal is an Indonesian/Malaysian chili sauce, that comes in a variety of flavors. The basic chili sauce is made from a mixture of different chili peppers, with secondary ingredients such as shrimp paste, garlic, ginger, shallot, scallion, palm sugar, and lime juice. Sambal “Surinaams” is a very spicy sambal, influenced by flavors from Surinam.
Serving suggestion: the ideal very spicy flavor maker for any dish, soup, or sauce. In Surinam often used as substitute for the traditional chutney when enjoying roti.
